John Silva
Global Communications Director

John Silva is a communications director with more than 30 years of experience translating chaos into confidence and bad decisions into “strategic pivots.” A graduate of the University of Florida, he entered the field believing communication could solve anything—a belief that has only grown stronger despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Known for his calm delivery and unshakable optimism, John has built a career on crafting messages that sound reassuring, authoritative, and just vague enough to survive follow-up questions.

His résumé spans the globe and includes a string of unforgettable roles in equally unforgettable places. John served as Supreme Director of Public Narratives for a micronation that existed primarily online, Chief Crisis Translator in a country where no two officials agreed on the same language, and Global Messaging Czar for an international organization headquartered on a repurposed oil rig. Other highlights include Head of Strategic Silence in the Swiss Alps, Minister of Reassurance and Strong Eye Contact in the South Pacific, and Executive Vice President of Clarifications, Re-Clarifications, and Final Clarifications for a government agency that never issued the same statement twice.

Currently residing in Budapest, John enjoys a semi-retired lifestyle that somehow involves even more consulting than before. From cafés overlooking the Danube, he advises leaders, organizations, and occasionally entire departments on how to “stay on message” while quietly redefining what the message actually is. Equal parts seasoned professional and global storyteller, John Silva remains a master of modern communication—proof that with enough experience, confidence, and well-timed pauses, almost anything can be explained.
